Although it was introduced to the world in Mexico, Madagascar is now the source of the great majority of the world's vanilla bean. And I don't mean any of that fishy-wishy, artificial, imitation stuff. I mean legit, straight-from-the-pod vanilla. Mmmmm-mmm.

Vanilla is a major industry in Northern Madagascar, and its farming and production is tedious and time-consuming. Unfortunately, many commercial products have turned to the much cheaper artificial options. Farmers in Madagascar are now struggling to get by, thanks to the low-demand for genuine vanilla.
